About Video Mail

Nowadays, many websites offer the ability to communicate via video mails. The procedure usually requires one to login to the site or download a client and run it from your own PC or laptop. The service is packaged in a variety of ways from being standalone to, as is usually the case, being offered in addition to other services so as to provide perceptible value. That being the case, such service offerings are either free (so you obviously need to put up with distracting advertisements) or chargeable.

The delivery mechanism for video emails generally involves following a link that enables viewing of the video from the service provider’s server where it is hosted. The generally bulky size of videos is what promotes this delivery model. Using standard email to deliver video as an attachment is conditioned by attachment sizes that need to be limited. However, I understand some providers still follow the traditional route and restrict video duration so that size is manageable enough to be sent via a standard email attachment.

As you can imagine, video mails provide several advantages over traditional text based conventional mails. Conventional emailing poses language and typing barriers which video emails overcome. Also there is no need to proofread and edit a video message as there is with a written message. A picture they say paints a thousand words, a video should then be even more impactful in being able to convey the appropriate tone and feeling behind the message. This eliminates any misunderstanding that can occur when the message is simply text. Since video offers a far more personal experience, so communications regarding special occasions or expressions of emotion may be more meaningful for the recipient.

However, the flip side of using video mail is that it may actually be awkward if not downright difficult for some people, and may require multiple re-recordings before the message is satisfactory. Perhaps this is a procedural challenge which repeated use might overcome. But, people whose verbal communication skills are limiting and who are more comfortable with writing than with presenting information orally may prefer conventional email.

Video emails are being touted as the next wave in internet communications that are likely to revolutionize the way we exchange information online. You can wait and watch or join the bandwagon, now!
