Streaming Content Delivery

The term ‘streaming’ with reference in today’s Internet technology refers to your website utilizing multimedia content such as audio, mp3, video, or any analogous file. It parallels the way a stream flows from another source uninterrupted. Streaming contents are most useful in listening to online radios, watching music videos on MTV, viewing newscasts on the web, or any other kind of videos and audios.

Streaming is generated from the server which is hosting the files for your web page. It makes the information available for viewing or listening without being interrupted or being downloaded into the viewer’s computer unit. The data being viewed or heard is in real time, which means whatever is being fed into the server can also be viewed at the same time just like the radio station. The data is used in that instant-there’s no need for the viewer to save the files-and he listens, sees, & hears in the same instant.

It used to be that a user has to download the files into his computer in order for him to see or hear it. The problem with this method is you don’t have a choice but to download it, you can delete the file later if you don’t enjoy it. But with video/audio streaming, you can discontinue viewing if you don’t like the content and it will not leave any files on your computer.

When a guest types the name of your domain, they will be lead automatically into to the default files of your web page. For purposes of illustration, let’s say you want to go to Google’s site, you type ‘Google.com’ in the address tab, now, it may not show in your browser yet you are actually gazing at the page of the index.html.

As you may have deducted, index.html is a default file. When that is the only default file in the root directory (where the files for your site are stored), it shows automatically the moment a user goes to your domain.

When more than one file is on default in the directory, the server comes to a decision which file takes the priority, then puts it on view. Knowledge on the order that the files are dished up is the answer to making sure that the appropriate page is shown on your site.

Stay up to date with third party application patches and use a server password that is strong in order to defend against malware.
